Dr. Xinyan lucy liu, DMD, Phd, FAGD, Ficoi
Dr. Xinyan Lucy Liu is originally from Beijing, China, where she received initial dental education at the prestigious Peking University School of Stomatology (PUSS). She worked as a dentist and completed residency in oral and maxillofacial pathology at the hospital of PUSS. Dr. Liu came to the United States in 2000 for her Ph.D and post-doctoral training at the Periodontology and Oral Biology department of Boston University School of Dental Medicine.
Later Dr. Liu joined the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine International Dentist Program. Dr. Liu received her D.M.D degree with honors from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2009. Since graduation, she has been working as a general dentist in a variety of dental settings including both private dental offices and community health center. Her passion for dentistry motivated her to pursue continuing education (CE) courses on multiple aspects of dentistry including cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, periodontal surgery, root canal therapies, cosmetic orthodontics therapy and TMJ treatments. Dr. Liu is a member of the highly reputed Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) , global Institute for Dental Education (gIDE), Surgical Masters, Spear Study Club, International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). She is also a certified provider of FastBraces Ortho, Six Months Smiles Ortho and Invisalign Aligner Orthodontics. With these ongoing training, she is able to stay updates on the latest materials, diagnostics, and treatments to implement the newest techniques to her daily dental practice. In the past few years alone, Dr. Liu has achieved more than 500 AGD certified profession CE credits. In 2024, Dr. Liu passed the fellowship exam and was credentialed as a fellow of Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and became one of the 6% of dentist in US with FAGD honors. From 2024 to 2025, Dr. Liu also completed TMD mini residency training program at prestigious Tufts University Craniofacial Pain Center and received formal training on TMD (temp mandibular joints disorders) diagnosis and treatments including Botox injections.
In addition to the training above, Dr. Liu is especially passionate about practicing implant dentistry. In the past 15 years, she has participated in extensive professional training on dental implants surgeries and implant restorations. These include simple to complicated bone graft surgeries in preparation of implants sites （including GBR/horizontal and vertical bone regeneration), immediate implants placement and restorations, sinus lift bone augmentations, CBCT guided/Chrome guided immediate full arch/full mouth implants reconstructions surgeries and restorations, soft tissue surgeries for both esthetics and non esthetics implant cases, and recently X-Guide AI navigated implant surgeries. Dr. Liu is a graduate of the prestigious AAID MaxiCourse implant residency program, achieved over 700 implants dentistry CE credits , and has passed the associate fellowship exam of American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). Due to her extensive training/experiences and long term successful implants cases results, she has been awarded fellowship of International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). She will continue to take more world class master courses to perfect implant surgery skills and better serve her patients.
Dr. Liu founded Beacon Family Dental in 2014 from scratch, with the vision of providing high quality comprehensive dental care and her patients’ best interests in heart. Since then, she has proudly built a dental team who share similar philosophies. Dr. Liu’s warm and caring personality, commitment to excellence and superior clinical skills, together with many years of experiences have won the trust of thousands of patients。 Her team feels honored to be able to help patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles, especially those who travels far from other area of Greater Boston and neighbor states. In 2025，to satisfy the needs of many patients living in West Boston area, we opened the second clinic – a brand new digital dental office in Needham MA .
When Dr. Liu is not treating patients, she is actively involved in the oral health education groups on social media networks. In her free time, she likes to be with her family and enjoys baking, fitness, and music.
